Yerevan Computer Research and Development Institute (YCRDI) was founded in 1956. Main directions of its activities are development and implementation of computers, complexes and general/special purpose automatic control systems. During its long time activities the Institute has developed and implemented four generations of computers, complexes and automatic control systems. After Armenia gained independence YCRDI directed its scientific potential to solve the problems of republic and has gained big experience in development and implementation of information and control systems. Today YCRDI has highly qualified specialists in Computer systems, Software development and Electronics. Main directions of YCRDI activities now are: Development and implementation of multi-purpose information and control systems, Automation of control subsystems of special complexes, Development and implementation of analytic information-control systems, Design and delivery of automation means of stationary and mobile systems, Design and delivery of special equipment, Upgrade and maintenance of special purpose radio electronic equipment.

The Union of Information Technology Enterprise announces the launch of the 8th annual DigiTec 2012 exhibition which organizes under the high patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

Categories represented during the Exhibition are: IT Equipment & Systems, IT & General Business, Financing/banking solutions, Business process automation, High - Tech & Engineering solutions, Education in IT sphere, E-Governance, Digital Graphics and Multimedia, Innovative Future, Job Fair.

In the scope of the Digitec Expo the following related events were held:

The study conducted by an independent expert Mike Ducker, who was invited by US company "Nathan Associates”, revealed that 44% of expo visitors were students, 19% - business managers in other sectors, 17% - employees of state institutions and bodies, and 20% - other citizens interested in the sector.
The same study showed that 86% of visitors expect to see first of all new technologies at the expo, 56% - mobile services, 39% - internet services, 37% - telecommunications services.
The number of visitors grows from year to year. In 2005 the number of visitors was 5000, in 2006 – 7000, in 2007 – 8000, in 2008 – 8000, in 2009 the number grew to approximately 12000 visitors, in 2010 more than 15000 people visited the expo and in 2011-about 17,000.

During the previous seven years, several hundreds of Armenian and international exhibitors participated in the expo, among them Microsoft RA, National Instruments, Synopsys Armenia, Virage Logic, Singapore Kinekits, D-Link, IBM, HP, Intel, Synergy Intl..

The 7th annual ICT/HighTech international exhibition DigiTec Expo 2011 took place on October 7-9, 2011 in Sport-concert Complex named after K. Demirchyan. The motto of the event was «Your digital future‰. The platinium sponsor of the Exhibition was VivaCell-MTS. DigiTec Expo starting from its creation date, 2005, is being held under the high patronage of the Prime-minister of RA. This year the event had great success, particularly it was set an increase in the number of participant companies and visitors: the number of visitors increased up to 17 000, and more than 115 companies took part in the event.
